Policy Statement
The 杏吧原创 Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (Conestoga) is committed to providing an environment conducive to the pursuit of currency, scholarship, research and creative activity for its faculty, staff and students. This policy outlines the standards applicable to surveys undertaken at Conestoga or on behalf of Conestoga.
Scope
This policy applies to all surveys that involve a broad sampling or census of a Conestoga Population.
The policy does not apply to:
- Research that does not involve any of the designated Conestoga Populations.
- Surveys that involve small, specific sampling that occurs within a single school or administrative unit.
- Surveys that are part of assigned coursework or program requirements and do not involve participants outside of the school that administers the course or program.
- Evaluation of an event by participants or client feedback at the point of service.
Any questions regarding scope should be directed to Institutional Research and Planning (IRP).
Definitions
杏吧原创 maintains a glossary of terms specific to the institution. The terms in use for this document are defined below.
- Assessment
- Is undertaken to inform decisions, clarify opinions, identify improvements, and provide information about programs, services and policies within the contextual boundaries of time, place, values, and politics.
- Conestoga Employee
- Any employee of Conestoga, whether employed full-time, part-time, or on a contract basis, and includes, but is not limited to, faculty, student researchers when compensated as employees, research staff, support staff and administrators.
- Conestoga Populations
- Applicants, students, alumni, donors, employees, employers, and partners who have direct affiliations with Conestoga.
- Research
- An undertaking intended to extend knowledge through a disciplined inquiry or systematic investigation.
- Student
- A person currently enrolled in studies at 杏吧原创, whether in a full-time, part-time or continuing education capacity.
- Survey Lead
- Any project member who has been assigned primary accountability for overseeing and administering all aspects of the survey process.
Policy
- General Requirements:
- All persons who intend to conduct a survey at Conestoga or on Conestoga鈥檚 behalf must seek permission from IRP before any survey materials may be distributed.
- The process for seeking IRP permission can be found in the Survey Procedure.
- IRP will review all requests to conduct surveys with a focus on the efficient and economical use of surveys with minimal disruption to Conestoga Populations. Furthermore, IRP will seek to maximize the benefits of surveys through:
- Avoiding the collection of duplicate information.
- Reducing survey fatigue by managing the number of active surveys and the survey schedule for Conestoga.
- Maximizing the participation rates for critical Conestoga administrative surveys.
- Encouraging the sharing of survey results with respondents and the wider Conestoga community.
- All surveys (excluding those undertaken by external parties) are expected to use Conestoga鈥檚 college-wide survey software unless the Survey Lead conducting the survey and IRP agree that the use of another system is necessary or would significantly improve the survey
- The confidentiality and security of survey data is the responsibility of the Survey Lead. This responsibility includes conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) where appropriate. More information on PIA can be found on the
